The recession has had quite a toll on the number of jobless Canadians. Canada Job Expo strives to put Canadians back to work by making an open access platform available to integrate the best companies with the best talent.

The Canada Job Expo represents the Greater Toronto Area which is comprised of approximately 3 million people, more than 100,000 companies, and a $109 billion gross domestic product which is roughly 20% of Canada's GDP.

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is Canada's business and manufacturing capital. With 778,700 jobs lost in Canada, Ontario and especially the GTA has been hit hard. Canada Job Expo seeks to decrease this rate and give peace of mind to families and ensure participating companies hire the best talent from the largest pool of talent across the country.

The rest of Canada can also benefit from this by tapping into the largest talented pool of workers in the nation.

Why attend a Job Fair?

Do employers and job seekers really have to attend a job fair?

No, unless job seekers really want a job or organizations want to hire the right candidate! It's hard to imagine a candidate or employer not wanting to attend or participate in a job fair.

With the advent of a whole cornucopia of electronic application processes. Web sites, virtual job fairs, resume databases and other electronic search processes have been responsible for an efficient means of finding jobs. We live in a high-tech world. Technology has made it possible to do a world- wide job search. It has allowed for the process to be 24:7.

Jobs occur in a high-touch environment. Most job seekers pursue their career because of the potential to impact others around them and the organization they work for. Jobs involve interaction with people in a team environment or with their clients. The interaction skills necessary to be successful cannot be electronically viewed nor virtually experienced. This can only happen face-to-face. Getting back to the original question: Yes – candidates who want a job and employers, who want a vibrant and efficient organization, should attend job fairs.

Job fairs continue to be the most efficient means for a great number of employer representatives to meet a large number of candidates face-to-face.

Resumes can only reveal so much. Technology has many advantages; it however, cannot achieve that intangible connection that individuals make at job fairs.
